How ASL Productions Brought GEICO’s “Glovey” Campaign to Life Ahead of the World Series
Social-first production, custom set builds, and full-service support at our flagship NYC studio.
When GEICO and their creative agency Momentum Worldwide needed a high-end, social-first video campaign ahead of the World Series, they came to ASL Productions and our 7,500 sq. ft. flagship video studio in Midtown Manhattan. The spot starred Nicky Cass, the fast-rising comedy/baseball creator, and Glovey, GEICO’s iconic oversized glove mascot.
The brief: build a fun, baseball-centric promotional environment, shoot multiple deliverables in a single day, and give Momentum the tools, crew, and studio infrastructure to bring their creative vision to life.
The result: nine polished social videos, released across GEICO and Nicky Cass’ channels, shot safely, efficiently, and creatively inside Studio One—our 25-foot-wide, full-color cyc with DMX-controlled lighting and a connected control room.
Social-First Production: Shooting 16×9 While Protecting for Vertical
This campaign was built for social impact, which meant capturing wide cinematic frames while ensuring every moment could be reframed for 9:16 vertical platforms like TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
Our team:
Designed dual-safe frame lines for every setup
Shot in 4K to allow controlled punch-ins for vertical crops
Blocked action so Nicky Cass and Glovey stayed within a clean center-cut
Delivered agency-ready assets for multiple aspect ratios
This approach lets Momentum push the content across every major platform without reshoots, without compromises, and with consistent brand alignment.
Art Direction & Set Design: Giant Backdrops, Oversized Props & Custom Builds
One of the most memorable parts of this project? The custom set pieces.
Momentum needed a baseball-themed world that felt playful, bold, and unmistakably “GEICO.” Our internal art department handled:
A full-size printed backdrop, installed inside Studio One
A Glovey-sized present box—a massive custom build designed to fit the mascot
Prop sourcing and color matching to GEICO’s brand palette
Fabrication that could withstand on-set movement and quick resets
Fun fact: This was the first of two giant gift boxes we built within the same week—for two totally different clients—before November had even started.
These oversized elements became core visual moments in the final edits and gave the talent a tactile environment to play off of.
As a full-service NYC video production company, we staffed the entire shoot:
Director
DP
Camera team
G&E crew
Art team
Production support
Engineering and studio operations
Our producers collaborated closely with Momentum’s team to provide structure, scheduling, routing, gear prep, safety oversight, and on-set workflow that let their creatives stay fully focused on performance and messaging.
This is the hybrid model ASL Productions is known for—our in-house staff provides the foundation, and our long-standing freelance crew ensures the right specialists for every project.
Filming in Studio One: Our Full-Color Cyc With DMX Lighting
All nine GEICO deliverables were filmed in Studio One, our most versatile stage.
Key features that made this shoot seamless:
25′ wide full-color cyc wall
DMX-controlled RGB lighting grid for fast look changes
Direct line to the control room for monitoring and playback
Easy load-in/out for large props (like a mascot-sized gift box)
Plenty of space for multiple sets, gear carts, and staging areas
With weekend access, Momentum and their clients had full run of our 7,500 sq. ft. facility—no traffic, no crowding, no noise conflicts. Just a clean, controlled production environment.
Client-Friendly Amenities: Viewing Areas, Green Rooms & Flexible Space
Big agency teams and talent need comfort and visibility. ASL Studios provides both.
During the GEICO shoot, Momentum used:
Our private viewing/monitoring area
Green room space for Nicky Cass
Production lounge for agency/client notes
A dedicated hair & makeup room
On-site kitchen access
Private restrooms and storage space
This made the entire day run smoother and kept agency, client, and talent aligned and comfortable.
Rolling Out the Campaign: Nine Social Videos Ahead of the World Series
Seeing the final assets published across GEICO’s feeds—including variations across platforms—was the best part of the job. Momentum crafted a fun, baseball-flavored campaign that felt right at home for the World Series, and our studio was the perfect backdrop for it.
From pre-production to set design to studio operations and final delivery, this project is a strong example of ASL Productions’ ability to support social-first creative, national brands, and agency partners in a single turnkey environment.
